MEDICINAL HERB WORKSHOPS

Many common ailments can be safely treated at home, using wild or cultivated herbs. We can also boost our immune systems and fight infection by including herbs in our diet. This full day learning experience will equip you with the skills you need to begin to build your own healing home apothecary.

A morning plant identification session will be followed by an engaging practical demonstration. You will learn how to make effective herbal teas, infusions, oils, tinctures and poultices using the plants that grow freely around us. Participants will leave with enough knowledge and confidence to start using herbal remedies immediately to assist with treating many common minor ailments.

HERB TEA WORKSHOPS

Herbal teas make a refreshing alternative to caffeine-based drinks, while offering many valuable health benefits. This workshop will guide you in learning how to blend herb teas for health and taste, while gaining an understanding of how to use herbs to assist with treating minor health issues.

We will start with an identification session, where we discuss both native Irish wild medicinal herbs and common cultivated culinary herbs, while learning about their nutritional values and beneficial healing properties. The identification session will be followed by a practical tea making demonstration and tea tasting.

WILD FOOD COOKERY WORKSHOP

An educational, informative and fun foraging session will be followed by a wild food cookery demonstration. Enjoy tasting a selection of wild herb teas while learning how to prepare and preserve a range of seasonal wild foods, using leaves, flowers, seeds, roots or berries.

Edible wild foods have a short growing season, so it makes sense to learn how to preserve them to use throughout the year. Based on the wild foods we find during the foraging session, the demonstration will cover making a range of wild preserves and condiments that you can then use in your everyday cooking.
