Expect the unexpected on our seashore foraging walks. While we focus on identifying and tasting the abundance of wild foods that we find, we have also come across some wonderful natural treasures. From a cute baby octopus to a mermaid’s purse, the seashore is full of surprises.
On this scenic coastal walk, you will learn how to safely identify seasonal native Irish coastal plants and seaweeds. Tantalise your tastebuds, take in the sea air, and get plenty of tips on how to incorporate these nourishing wild foods into your diet.

What You'll Learn
This walk will focus on the coastal plants that we discover on the day. We will identify and taste some of the seasonal plants, berries and sea vegetables that we find, and we will discuss their associated folklore, along with their culinary and medicinal uses.
We will also identify the seaweeds that we find on the beach and learn how to incorporate their healthy properties into our diet. We will have a seashell hunt for any children in the group, where they can collect as many different shells as they can find and we will identify them towards the end of the walk. Make sure they bring along their seaside buckets!

Explore the rock pools, cliff walks and sand dunes in this scenic coastal location overlooking Lambay Island.
LEARN
Learn how to safely identify the seasonal coastal plants, seaweeds and shellfish that we find on the day with plenty of tips on using them to create tasty wild food dishes.
Taste
Taste some of the seasonal plants, flowers, seeds and berries that we find on the walk, along with a small wild food nibble.

What should I wear?
Please wear sturdy, waterproof shoes or boots and bring a rain jacket, as we’ll be outdoors in all conditions.
What should I bring with me?
A notebook is useful for taking notes or pressing leaves and flowers. A small bottle of water is recommended for rinsing wild leaves before tasting. Children can bring along their seaside buckets for collecting shells and seashore treasures.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Walks go ahead in most weather conditions. We only cancel in cases of very severe weather or official storm warnings.
Are the walks suitable for everyone?
We aim to be as inclusive as possible. Please contact us before booking to discuss any accessibility needs.
Can children attend?
Yes, children are very welcome, but they must be supervised by an adult at all times. Make sure they bring along their seaside buckets.
Are dogs allowed on the walks?
Dogs are welcome on our seashore foraging walk once they are kept on a lead at all times.
Is there parking available?
Yes, free parking is available at our locations.
Can I get there by public transport?
In many cases, yes. Please contact us for specific directions and options for your chosen walk.
